The fabric worn in Maasai land is bright and bold.
They wear an Olkarasha, also called a shuka.
In the rural areas the traditional Maasai style remains. A western jacket, shoes or hat may be seen, but the Olkarasha is still worn everyday by most. A clean wash hangs to dry on bushes. A common sight to see.
Back home in Minnesota, I unpacked then aired out my Kenya cloth the Maasai way.
I used Kenya cloth as a curtain in the guest room.
Maasai bracelets are used as curtain tiebacks. The same sun that shines through Kenya windows, shines into mine…just at a different time of the day.
