My parents always grew marigolds along the driveway in a flowerbed built by my dad.
I have to admit that marigolds have never been a favorite of mine, but this past spring I bought some at a half price sale, and placed them in a spot in the back corner of the yard that needed something growing there. All I did was water them on hot, dry days and by the end of summer they were looking lush and tall and very healthy, just like the ones my parents had.
I then stopped for the first time ever to really get close and look at these golden brown beauties. After this photo shoot, the marigold has moved up the ranks.
